At Pleasant Grove, our United Methodist Youth Fellowship consists of students in grades 6 to 12. Our students represent many of the middle and high schools in Forsyth county.

The youth have Sunday school classes at 10:00 AM in the youth area of the Fellowship Hall. They will also meet most Sunday evenings between 5:00pm-6:30pm. Each meeting usually consists of a Bible Study program or activity followed by a snack dinner and ending with some sort of recreation.

Each fall or spring we try to schedule a lock-in for the group as well as attend a Spiritual Life Retreat at Camp Glisson in Dahlonega. Confirmation classes also takes place in the spring in which the students prepare for church membership.

Youth mission projects include gathering Christmas presents for needy families and collecting money for a designated charity on Souper Bowl Sunday. The youth also participate in some of the church mission projects, which include Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Christmas Child and Family Promise.

The meeting months are based on the school year calendar, but when possible, we participate in local summer mission projects, such as Mission Change based in Albany, GA, as well.

The Youth slept under the stars Friday, May 3 at Family Promise’s Cardboard City at Bethelview UMC to help box up homelessness and send it packing! We worked really hard on our cardboard box that sleeps 11! We enjoyed spending the evening with others learning and raising awareness about homelessness in our county. It’s was a blast!!

VBS this year, with the theme of ROAR! Life is wild! God is good!, was run by the youth and was a great success!! The kids involved enjoyed food, music crafts story time and games.

The rising 10-12 grade Youth and Wendi also returned to Albany, GA this summer on a mission trip to work with Mission Change from June 9-14! Their activities this year included sprucing up public areas in Albany, helping out Farmer Fredo in Good Life City with his planter boxes and harvest at 3 school gradens, visiting with residents at the Alzheimer’s Outreach Center, checking out exotic animals and cleaning out emu eggs at the Chehaw wild animal park, and finishing with some fun at the bowling alley.

The Youth Group welcomes all youth grades 6-12.  Our meetings include devotion, fellowship time and a light snack/supper. The Youth Group enjoys fun weekly fellowship and activities with great friends, serving in our church and community, and sharing God’s love with others…So Come Join Us!!!
