From the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Women,
We are a fellowship of women who enjoy working together in worship, mission projects, and supporting our church. We meet monthly from August to May on the third Monday of each month at 12 PM (noon) in the Club House.
United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Some of our activities include:
- Loving Hands Ministry which provides food for those who are ill and for family dinners during a bereavement time
- Homebound Communion for those who are unable to attend church
- Providing Holiday Fruit Baskets to our senior church members
- Holiday support to a family in need.
- Support of the Honduras Mission Project and AROS District projects
Each meeting provides an opportunity to share in a devotional, to participate in an informative program and to be a fellowship hostesses. Membership is open to all women who worship in our church. We welcome you and issue you an invitation to join us in this vibrant ministry.
Pleasant Grove UMW hosted the Lenten Time Apart event this year. The AROS (Atlanta/Roswell) district UMW churches were invited to attend. The social action project for the district this year involves helping Family Haven here in Forsyth county. Women from eight different churches brought items to fill Snack/Play bags for the children of Family Haven along with other items needed at Family Haven. The main speakers at the event were ladies who work with Family Haven.
The UMW book drive for Family Haven will run through May. If you come across some new or gently used books for children through teenage years, please consider donating them. There are 2 blue bins in the narthex where the books can be placed.
Our UMW will host a mission study on Monday, May 20 from 10:00 – 2:00. Mary Ann Brannon, from Stockbridge, Georgia, will lead the study called, “Embracing Wholeness: An Earth Perspective for Covenantal Living”. We have invited ladies from surrounding area churches to come join us. If you weren’t able to attend the April meeting, please let me know if you think you will be able to come to the study.I will need to let Mary Ann know ahead of time the number who plan to attend so she can have enough material for everyone. You do not need to buy a book for the study. Our UMW will provide the noon meal.
